Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026 • Applicable worldwide
1. Introduction & Data Controller
Emergency ID (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides an emergency information tool enabling customers to store vital contact and personal details accessible via a permanent QR code. We believe you should have total ownership and control over your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how it is stored, how your public scan settings operate, and your legal rights under international privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, and applicable health data regulations.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect data that you voluntarily provide to make your Emergency ID functional:
- Account Information: Your name, email address, password hash, and billing country.
- Emergency Profile Information: Profile photo, month and year of birth, nationality, preferred language, blood group, allergies, conditions, basic medications, and optional notes (distinguishing marks, mobility needs, emergency insurance).
- Emergency Contacts: Full name, relationship, telephone number, WhatsApp number, and SMS alert preferences for your designated contacts.
- Technical Scan Telemetry: When your QR code is scanned, our servers log the timestamp, user-agent, and—only with the explicit consent of the scanner—temporary GPS coordinates to alert your emergency contacts.
3. Customer-Controlled Privacy Toggles
Unlike typical directory services, Emergency ID features granular privacy controls. From your member dashboard, you can individually toggle any field between Public and Private.
Fields marked as Private are never displayed on the public emergency scan screen and remain accessible only to you when logged in to your account.
4. Emergency Contacts & Consent
When you add emergency contacts (Primary Call Contact or SMS Alert Contacts), you warrant that you have obtained their explicit consent to receive emergency telephone calls and automated emergency SMS notifications.
Emergency contacts can request removal at any time by contacting our support team or asking the account holder to update their profile.
5. Location Data & Rescuer Telemetry
Emergency ID does not continuously track your phone or device. When a rescuer scans your QR code and confirms an emergency alert, their browser may request permission to share their current location. If granted, these GPS coordinates are transmitted directly to your designated emergency contacts in an automated SMS alert with a Google Maps link. We do not sell or monetize location data.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
We work with reputable, certified third-party vendors solely to operate the platform:
- Twilio: For delivering high-priority emergency SMS alerts worldwide.
- Stripe: For secure, PCI-DSS compliant credit card and payment processing. We never store raw credit card numbers.
- Secure Cloud Infrastructure: Encrypted hosting providers with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II compliance.
7. Data Retention & Permanent Erasure
You have the absolute right to modify, export, or permanently erase your emergency profile data. If you delete your account, your profile and associated QR code records are permanently expunged from our live databases within 24 hours.
